Shooting Technology Research Association holds lectures on firearms regulations

The New York Chinatown Shooting Research Association recently conducted its annual seminar on firearm regulations and safety in Midtown Manhattan, featuring Coach and Range Director Darren Leung as the keynote speaker.

With growing concerns about public safety and an increasing interest in firearms, Leung stressed the critical importance of proper gun safety practices. He pointed out that many people lack essential knowledge about firearms, and incidents of illegal possession are unfortunately prevalent. The seminar aimed to boost public understanding of firearm safety and the legalities surrounding gun ownership.

Leung gave an informative overview of the various types of gun permits available in New York City, including restricted carry permits and business firearms licenses. He outlined the application requirements, which include valid identification and a clean criminal background.

When discussing the application process, Leung noted that New York boasts some of the strictest gun regulations in the nation. However, he acknowledged a notable improvement in the application timeline, which has decreased from six months to three or four months.

To wrap up the event, Leung and Shooting Research Association President Wei-Yi Tsai provided hands-on training for newly licensed members, helping them develop operational skills essential for responsible firearm handling.
