On October 18, the “Experience Shanghai” tourism promotion event took place in Seoul, successfully hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, with support from the Chinese Tourism Office in Seoul. The event drew numerous guests from the South Korean tourism industry alongside representatives from the Shanghai tourism delegation.
During the event, Cheng Meihong, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing that this event marks a new beginning. She expressed her hope that the South Korean tourism industry would gain fresh insights and expectations about Shanghai, ultimately drawing more Korean visitors to the city.
Kwon Myung-hee, Deputy Director of the Seoul Tourism and Sports Bureau, stated that Shanghai has always been a highly attractive travel destination for the South Korean market. She expressed optimism for increased tourist exchanges between the two cities in the future.
The Shanghai tourism representatives then showcased a variety of visa policies and convenient public travel services. Under the theme “Experience Shanghai,” they highlighted a range of sensory experiences that reflect popular travel trends among Korean tourists, integrating these with Shanghai’s current hot cultural and tourism resources. Four Chinese tourism enterprises also introduced their unique offerings to the Korean guests.
Following the presentation, representatives from the South Korean tourism industry commented that the event made it clear that Shanghai is a city with no off-season for travel; visitors can experience unique excitement no matter when they arrive. They expressed a desire for more South Koreans to visit Shanghai in person to fully appreciate its charm.
