On the evening of October 10, over 300 industry leaders and elite creators gathered for the inaugural Beijing Night event of the China Broadcasting and Television Fine Arts Creation Conference. They engaged in discussions about their creative visions and the development of the industry, reflecting on the outstanding achievements of the past year in “Beijing Audiovisual” content creation while looking forward to the promising future of the industry.
During the event, Wang Jiequn, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Radio and Television, unveiled the 2024 Beijing Audiovisual Cultural and Artistic Project list. She emphasized that the bureau remains committed to cultivating the rich cultural landscape of Beijing while leveraging the capital’s unique resource advantages to develop the “Beijing Audiovisual” cultural brand.
According to officials, the newly announced 2024 projects include a total of 120 works across 11 categories, such as TV dramas, animation, documentaries, radio and television programs, web series, and films. These creations are characterized by their distinctive themes, diverse perspectives, and rich variety, forming a unique matrix of quality content.
The artistic projects presented resonate with contemporary themes, promoting positive narratives and embodying the spirit of the times. They range from works that capture the essence of national dreams, like “It’s Great to Know You” and “The Road of Books,” to projects that reflect the soul of the Chinese nation, such as “The Great Wall Long” and “Lark Chronicles,” showcasing the spirit and cultural depth of the Chinese people.
The project list also pays special attention to realistic themes that depict significant societal changes and highlight the development of the capital, with TV dramas like “North and South” focusing on the generational transfer of knowledge within the railway public security force, reflecting China’s remarkable advances in railway transportation. Web documentary “Moon Landing in Progress” narrates the collective stories of Chinese space professionals, promoting the spirit of lunar exploration and inspiring national enthusiasm for science, especially among youth. Furthermore, the drama “Ending the Mountain” tells stories from the catering industry, embodying the warmth and humanity that remain constant amidst the capital’s evolution. The web series “Across the Ocean to Deliver You” blends old and new elements of Beijing’s urban landscape, portraying individual choices and resilience amid the tide of change.
It is also noteworthy that “Beijing Audiovisual” is not only advancing artistic creation but is also actively exploring the application of new technologies and forms. For instance, the web micro-drama “Sanxingdui: The Future Revelation,” set against the backdrop of the Sanxingdui culture, utilizes AIGC technology to breathe new life into traditional cultural dissemination.
Wang Jiequn stated that moving forward, the focus would remain on a people-centered approach to creation, with an emphasis on strengthening the planning of artistic production. The goal is to enhance the quality of artistic works and further polish the “Beijing Audiovisual” brand identity. Looking to the future, “Beijing Audiovisual” will continue to adhere to innovation while faithfully presenting audiences with a vibrant cultural feast.
