In an exciting development for the Nigerian automotive industry, Nord Automobiles, an indigenous automaker, recently unveiled two new models: the Nord A3 Sedan and the Nord A9 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). The launch event, held at the expansive Nord showroom in the upscale Lekki area of Lagos, attracted notable dignitaries from both public and private sectors.
Mr. Oluwatobi Ajayi, the Chairman and CEO of Nord Automobiles, expressed confidence that these new models cater to the diverse needs of the motoring public. He proudly shared that over the past four years, the company has seen impressive growth, with its model range expanding from five to eleven vehicles.
“We are committed to ensuring reliability and distinctive design language in every vehicle we produce,” Ajayi stated, highlighting the Nord A3’s lower cost of ownership and emphasizing the uniqueness of the Nord A9 as a standout SUV.
During the launch, Ajayi revealed that auto enthusiasts are already showing interest, as some models were sold on-site. The A3 Sedan features a modern SQRE4T15C engine with a CVT displacement, delivering a maximum power of 115kW and 150Ps. It boasts a wheelbase of 2700 mm and includes an Independent MacPherson front suspension and a Multi-link rear suspension. Additionally, this 1.6-liter engine car is equipped with electric power steering and a fuel tank capacity of 70 liters.
On the other hand, the Nord A9 is a spacious three-row SUV, ideal for families. With a generous 2820 mm wheelbase, it offers ample legroom and ground clearance. Its fuel efficiency is impressive at 8.2 liters per 100 km, and the vehicle is outfitted with a modern sound system and the latest in automotive electronics for passenger comfort. A self-parking option adds to its convenience.
Both models come with a five-year warranty or up to 200,000 kilometers, similar to other vehicles in the Nord lineup.
Dr. Jekwu Ozoemene, Executive Director of the Alternative Bank, discussed an exciting vehicle financing scheme that allows prospective customers to acquire any Nord model through a manageable payment plan. He also announced the purchase of two units of the newly launched Nord A3.
The event also featured the award ceremony for the recent #CaptureNord Challenge, where prizes were handed out by Mrs. Dora Ajayi, Managing Director of Dora Naturals Skincare & Spa; Mr. Lukman Adekola, Group Head of Corporate and Investment Banking Solutions at Alternative Bank; Miss Tolu Falaye, Head of Legal and Compliance at Nord; and Miss Shekinah Odunsi, Director of Operations at Nord.
