Heixiazi Island Highway Port Construction Project Starts_1

On October 21, the construction of the Heixiazi Island road port project in Fuyuan City, Jiamusi, Heilongjiang Province officially began, marking a significant milestone in the development of the China-Russia International Cooperation Demonstration Zone on Heixiazi Island.

Heixiazi Island is situated on the border river between Fuyuan, China, and Khabarovsk, Russia. The entire construction project for the road port is set to take two years, with a total investment of 730 million yuan (approximately $114 million) and an area coverage of 106,000 square meters. The project is divided into three main components: the infrastructure developments beneath the island, the construction of service facilities on the island, and a dedicated passageway for the port. The goal is to create an efficient, safe, and convenient international gateway. The underground infrastructure will provide robust support, while the on-island facilities will focus on creating a comprehensive service area. The dedicated passage will ensure smooth and efficient customs clearance for people and goods alike.

Gao Xiuyu, the project manager from China Communications First Highway Engineering Bureau, emphasized the commitment to adhering to standard construction protocols, using high-quality materials, and incorporating advanced construction techniques. “We aim to create a port project that stands the test of time,” he said.

Wang Chunyu, director of the Planning and Construction Bureau of the Heixiazi Island Construction and Management Committee, explained that once the road port opens, it will significantly enhance the capacity for both personnel and cargo to pass through customs. He noted that this development will help overcome long-standing seasonal customs clearance challenges that have constrained Fuyuan’s growth.
