This year, Jannik Sinner, the Italian tennis sensation who swept both the Australian Open and the US Open titles, is making headlines again as he welcomes two new members to his team. Recently, he introduced his new fitness coach, Marco Panichi, and physical therapist, Ulises Badio, both of whom previously worked with Serbian star Novak Djokovic.
Panichi, a former long jumper, joined Djokovic’s team in 2019 and helped him secure ten Grand Slam titles before their partnership ended in May. Badio also has a history of collaboration with Djokovic, further adding to the expertise in Sinner’s team.
Sinner continues to work closely with orthopedic doctor Andrea Cipolla. Earlier this year, Sinner faced scrutiny after testing positive on two occasions for steroids, which violated anti-doping regulations. His camp explained that the contamination occurred unintentionally when his physical therapist, Giacomo Naldi, treated his injuries, leading to Sinner’s inadvertent exposure to banned substances. Consequently, he faced no penalties, although the incident generated significant controversy.
Ahead of the US Open, Sinner announced the termination of his relationship with Naldi and his former fitness coach, Umberto Ferrara, due to a loss of trust.
As he introduces his new team members on social media, Sinner is set to officially welcome them in Monaco this week. His new team will accompany him to Asia for the upcoming Beijing Open and the Shanghai Masters.
