Individual Honours Not Important Anymore, Says Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo recently revealed that he has “no longer cares” about being named the best player in the world, emphasizing instead his dedication to supporting his teammates. The 39-year-old forward joined Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr in January 2023, following his departure from Manchester United.

After Al-Nassr’s 2-1 win against Qatari club Al-Rayyan in the AFC Champions League group stage, Ronaldo opened up about his evolving mindset. “It’s not important anymore whether I’m the best or not; I no longer care about that,” he said after scoring in the match. “While it’s great for a player to score, what truly matters to me is that the team wins.”

A five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Ronaldo shared that the chase for personal accolades is no longer his main focus. “I’m used to breaking records, but that’s not my priority anymore. The most important thing now is to enjoy my time at Al-Nassr and help my teammates succeed,” he explained.

After netting the 904th goal of his legendary career, Ronaldo reflected on a personal milestone. “My goal against Al-Rayyan felt different and significant. If my father were alive, he would have been so proud today because the goal coincided with his birthday,” he said, looking skyward in remembrance.

In August, Ronaldo suggested he might end his career at Al-Nassr. “I’m not sure if I’ll retire soon—maybe in two or three years—but it seems likely that I’ll retire here at Al-Nassr,” he noted.

While Ronaldo played a crucial role in securing the Arab Club Champions Cup for Al-Nassr in 2023, he has yet to win any domestic titles or continental trophies with the club. However, he made headlines last May by becoming the top scorer in a single season of the Saudi Pro League, netting 35 goals. Additionally, he achieved his 901st career goal during a 2-1 victory against Scotland in the Nations League last month.
