On October 11, the 2024 National Table Tennis Championships officially kicked off at the Sports Development Center in Ordos City, Inner Mongolia. This grand event spans nine days and features five events: men’s singles, women’s singles, mixed doubles, men’s team, and women’s team, with 274 athletes from 28 provinces and regions across the country participating.
The National Table Tennis Championships is a traditional event with a rich history in China, boasting the largest scale, highest level of competition, and significant influence in the sport.
Liu Guoliang, President of the Chinese Table Tennis Association and Chairman of the WTT Board, as well as First Vice-President of the International Table Tennis Federation, expressed his hopes for the event, saying, “I wish for the entire table tennis family in China to unite, seek truth, and pragmatically continue the glorious traditions of the Chinese table tennis team. We should embrace new challenges with renewed enthusiasm and determination as we prepare for upcoming tasks.” He also emphasized the importance of this event in promoting the sport of table tennis, aiming to inspire more people to engage with and develop a passion for the game.
