Overseas Chinese media visit Jiangxi- looking for history, tasting culture, observing ecology and observing development

On October 19, in Nanchang, China, a significant conclusion was drawn from the “Walking China, Reporting China” 2024 overseas Chinese media tour in Jiangxi province. The week-long event, involving 22 journalists from Chinese-language media outlets across 18 countries and regions including France, Italy, Brazil, Japan, and Egypt, emphasized the rich history, culture, ecology, and development of Jiangxi.

Mr. Gao Jin, the president of Romania’s European Overseas Chinese Newspaper, encapsulated the essence of Jiangxi by stating, “The interplay of red and green, as well as the harmonious blending of the ancient and modern, will undoubtedly propel Jiangxi forward on its path of high-quality development.”

Jiangxi, renowned for its picturesque landscapes, is often described through poetic lines such as, “The setting sun and a lone wild goose fly together, while autumn waters blend with the sky’s hue,” reflecting the province’s stunning natural beauty. The aftermath of rain on October 17 unveiled a breathtaking sea of clouds at Lushan Mountain, prompting Zhu Xinna, vice president of Egypt’s China Weekly, to exclaim, “Only by experiencing the misty beauty of Lushan can one truly appreciate the essence of the phrase, ‘Not recognizing Lushan’s true face, only because I’m amidst the mountain itself.’” She expressed a desire to introduce the wonders of Lushan to a wider overseas audience.

Traveling to the West Sea scenic area of Lushan, more than an hour away, Cambodia’s Jianhua Daily deputy editor Du Bingyu was captivated by the misty lake and mountainous scenery, stating, “I will continue to report on West Sea to let the Cambodian people know about this beautiful place in China.”

If Jiangxi’s green ecology is its valuable asset, its profound cultural heritage is equally formidable. Notable figures from Jiangxi, including Tao Yuanming, Ouyang Xiu, and Wen Tianxiang, shine like stars in the vast history of Chinese civilization. During a visit to the Ba Dai Shan Ren Memorial Hall, Pan Xiaoxian, a journalist from Indonesia’s Qiantao Daily, eagerly documented the original works of Ba Dai Shan Ren on her phone, commenting, “The natural beauty in these works brings joy to the spirit and showcases their artistic intentions.”

The site of the Han Dynasty Haihunhou State, recognized as the largest and best-preserved archaeological site of a Han Dynasty marquisate, left a profound impact on Brazil’s Bafang News vice president Yan Jia. She was particularly astonished by the artifacts displayed in the museum. “The relics encompass the daily life of the Haihunhou, giving a complete picture of Han Dynasty culture, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibilities of ancient artisans.”

Additionally, the China Jinshi Cultural Park in Ji’an made a lasting impression on Yan. “The Jinshi Museum within the cultural park exhibits the historical development of the imperial examination system. Through multimedia channels, I aspire to share the deep-rooted culture of Luling with the people of Brazil,” she affirmed.

Held from October 13 to 19, the 2024 overseas Chinese media tour in Jiangxi was organized jointly by the China News Service, the World Chinese Media Cooperation Alliance, and the Jiangxi International Communication Center. The initiative aimed to document and discover Jiangxi’s ecological beauty, cultural richness, and developmental progress through the unique perspectives and vibrant narratives of overseas Chinese media.
