On October 24, reports from the “Customs Release” WeChat account revealed an intriguing incident at Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport. Customs officers, while conducting checks on incoming travelers’ luggage, opened a suitcase belonging to a passenger and discovered a collection of live animals.
Expert analysis identified these animals as 27 exotic species, including Brooklyn ghost fire beetles, ninja slugs, and giant ant lions, totaling 85 individual creatures.
Currently, these live animals are being held in accordance with the law for further handling.
Customs officials are reminding the public that according to the Biosecurity Law of the People’s Republic of China and the Law on the Inspection and Quarantine of Entry and Exit Animals and Plants, along with related regulations, the introduction of foreign species without approval is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, carrying or mailing live plants and animals into the country is not allowed.
