2024 National Men’s Boxing Championship kicks off in Baisha, Hainan

On October 22, 2024, the National Men’s Boxing Championships kicked off at the National Sports Training Base in South China (located in Baisha, Hainan). The event features 37 boxing teams and nearly 600 athletes from across the country, all coming together to showcase their skills and engage in friendly competition.

The championships consist of 13 weight classes, ranging from 46-48 kg to over 92 kg, and will take place from October 22 to 27. As the bouts unfold, athletes display a variety of striking techniques—straight punches, hooks, and jabs—while skillfully maneuvering around the ring in a high-paced contest, much to the delight of the spectators.

This year marks the sixth consecutive year that the championships have been held in Baisha. The event not only boosts local tourism and cultural consumption but also contributes to Baisha’s development as a “Cultural and Sports Mountain City.” Located in the core ecological protection zone of Hainan Island, Baisha’s favorable climate has attracted several national-level sports teams for training and has hosted major events such as the martial arts selection for the Hangzhou Asian Games, the National Archery Championships, and the National Freestyle Roller Skating Open.

The event is organized by the Chinese Boxing Association in collaboration with the Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Film and Sports.
